Kindle 2 and A Big Thank You

Guess who is getting a Kindle 2?

Me!

My husband knows I've been lusting after the Kindle ever since I heard about it, and he surprised me for Valentine's Day for ordering the new Kindle 2. (I won't get it for a few weeks though). I'm so excited, and I'm very anxious to see if it lives up to the hype. I'll definitely be writing about my experiences here for anyone who is interested. And now I am so glad I didn't get one for Christmas like I originally wanted because the Kindle 2 just got released last week and seems to have quite a few improvements but at the same price.

If you don't know what the Kindle 2 is, go here to read all about it. Basically, the Kindle is an electronic book reader created by Amazon that is supposed to truly recreate the experience of reading a book. I know that is one of the biggest concerns from hard-core readers I've talked to -- and one of my concerns as well. But there seem to be so many benefits -- I mean imagine carrying around 1,500 books in your purse! Imagine getting a book in your hands within 60 seconds! Imagine only paying $9.99 for most new releases!

The very first book I plan to download is Ken Follett's World Without End. I've been dying to read this book but, to be honest, it is just so big and heavy that I keep picking something else. So stay tuned for more news on my adventures with the Kindle.

A Big Thank You

I also want to thank all of you who took the time out of your busy schedule to leave a comment on my interview with Efrem Sigel. I truly appreciate your support with this. And I feel better knowing that anxiety and stress are normal reactions to conducting your first author interview! I feel like I've gone through a book blogger rite of passage.

So, for all of you who commented on the interview, I would like to award you the lovely Friends Award, which the wonderful Cathy over at Kittling: Books gave me in January. (Ironically, Cathy will be getting this award back from me! How funny!) You guys truly came through for me and I thank you. You truly represent what the award means -- being a lovely friend.

Congrats on your Kindle! I'm afraid I'll be lusting for another year or two before I can justify the cost, but I look forward to hearing what you think!

OH - I can't wait to hear how you like the Kindle 2! What a nice Valentine's Day gift!

:) Thanks for stopping by and participating in Thingers last week! Isn't it amazing how hard it can be to add a rating to a book? You are absolutely correct - I may dislike a book for the exact reason why you love it - so is it fair that I give it a 3 and you give it a 5? It is a very interesting challenge, which is why I'm still struggling with coming up with a good rating system that works for me.

I've got the post up for this week. ~ Wendi

Congrats on the Kindle! Isn't it weird how someone else getting something makes you want it more? ;)

Wow! I'm jealous. I was just looking at Kindles online and decided I'll have to stick with borrowing library books.

And thanks so much for the award. Your interview was excellent. I am hoping to read more in the future.

Now, to my acceptance speech. I want to thank Jenners for her thoughtfulness in giving me this award. In addition I want to thank my parents, my teachers, my loving husband, my other family members (even ones I don't like), my in-laws, my friends, my agent, and everyone else I ever knew.......

Just getting everyone ready for the upcoming Oscars.

Awww! Thank you for my award! You are too sweet! :D

And, congrats on getting the Kindle 2! Do tell all when you get it. Your husband certainly knows how to romance a book lover, doesn't he? Smart man. I know that the Kindle 2 will have some of the kinks worked out. I think it is always best not to get the first edition of something like this anyway, since the 1st one is how the company discovers just how well it does work. So, happy reading, friend!
