Time for another update on the Game On Diet. I'm at the halfway point -- and I'm beginning to feel the "stress" of this massive lifestyle change. And by stress, I mean "starting to want to eat candy bars more often." I was afraid this was going to happen; I tend to last about two weeks on diets before starting to crumble. However, I am keeping on -- primarily because of the team aspect of it and also because -- DARN IT -- I DO FEEL BETTER! Here are some highlights and lowlights.Excuse Me, Ma'am -- Your Pants Are Falling Down!
Although I (inexplicably) didn't lose any weight this week, my shorts (which were a bit too tight and uncomfortable just a few short weeks ago) are getting quite loose -- to the point where I'm starting to look like one of those kids who wear the baggy pants with their underwear showing. (Perhaps not the best look for me but I'll take it over looking like a sausage stuffed into a casing!) I consoled myself on the lack of weight loss by chalking it up to the muscles I am building by exercising.
Wasn't There An Impatient B*tch Who Used To Live Here?
Getting the proper amount of sleep each night and regular exercise has made me much more pleasant to be around -- just ask my son or husband. I'm much more patient and relaxed because I'm not so darn tired. The only real drawback is that my blogging and reading are falling behind -- but it is nice to wake up feeling refreshed and happy instead of draggy and tired.
By Any Chance Did You Get Microdermabrasion?
Why no! I didn't ... it is just my skin looking younger and more hydrated due to all the water I've been drinking. I've seen amazing differences in my skin since I started drinking 3 liters of water a day. It feels softer and smoother and I feel like I have a bit of a shine (or glow, if you will) to me. My body seems to have adjusted quite nicely to drinking all this water. The only key is that I have to drink it throughout the day. Not a good idea to wait until 6:00 p.m. and still have 2 liters of water left to drink.
I Wish I Could Eat Unlimited Fruit Instead of Vegetables
Why do vegetables have to be better for you than fruits? Fruits taste so much better, and I hate not being able to have a fruit and a carb at a meal. And I'm getting pretty darn sick of celery, cucumbers and spinach. And what kind of joker decided that corn and potatoes were really carbs and not veggies? A cruel joke, methinks.
Oh Chocolate ... I Miss You
Even though I can have a 100 calories of anything I want (and I define this as "chocolate), this amounts to basically going cold turkey on my worst vice. And I'll admit it right now: I am going a little hog wild on my meal off and day off because my sweet sweet chocolate calls to me and I cannot resist. Though I have noticed I end up feeling a bit sick afterwards when I never did before. (Note to self: May not be losing weight due to to excessive eating on meal and day off eating. This is NOT the recommended way to do it. Get a grip.)
I'm Nuts About Nuts ... And Tilapia Ain't So Bad
One plus about this diet is that I've eaten foods I've never eaten before just to add some variety to my diet. (There is only so much string cheese a girl can eat.) I've found that I love macadamia nuts, and I made tilapia for myself for the first time ever. I'm also eating a wider variety of vegetables and experimenting with spices. And whole grain bread really is quite satisfying ... and this from a die-hard white bread fan. (Yes...I was that bad. I told you this was a lifestyle change for me.)
Well, that is it for this week. I'm trying to get pumped up for Week 3, but I'm looking longingly at the snacks in the closet and I know it is going to be harder this week. The only thing that is getting me through this is knowing others are doing this along with me and not wanting to let my team down too badly. And I had it even easier than some of the others -- can you believe some of the people doing this did it WHILE ON VACATION? I admire their strength and dedication -- I'm pretty sure I wouldn't be able to do it.
Stay tuned for next week's update on how Week 3 went. GO TWINKIES!
If you missed it, here is my introductory post to the Game On Diet and my Week 1 update.

Gosh, you verbalized (well, wrote) a lot of what I was feeling, too! I think we are going to have a great week! Hang in there and don't give in to temptation. Think of those Ding Dongs and Ho Hos!
Keep up the good work!
Sounds like you are doing great! I know when I was actually exercising last summer I didn't loose the pounds but tightening up the flab sure does make you feel well. Keep up all the hard work.
Go Jenners Go! You're doing great:) I agree that I wish I could eat more fruits than veggies. Corn and potatoes are such staple "veggies" in my house. That would be a hard change for my hubby and sons. You should be very proud of yourself. Your dedication is making me want to cut back on my chocolate too. I know I'll feel better if I cut the chocolate down. Hooray for baggy shorts, maybe you'll start a fashion trend!
The two week mark is definitely the hump stage! I think the key will be not to go hog (so to speak) wild when the 4 weeks are up!
One thing that has really made me feel good is that a mere TWO weeks makes a big difference, so say if after the 4 weeks are up and one needed a break of a month or two but then needed to get righteous again one is looking at only a two week refresher course!
And by the way, I decided the "glow" is from starvation, not water (heh heh). Sort of the same look the ancient ascetics had....
Jenners, you are doing great! Keep it up!
I think that three pieces of dove dark chocolate equal roughly 100 calories. At any rate, dark chocolate is better for you!
You are doing great! I wish I could find your strength to resist the sweets. I ate a half bag of cookies today while reading a book. Perhaps I shouldnt have skipped breakfast and lunch. Congrats and keep it up!
Sounds like you are doing great and I am enjoying reading about your journey. Good luck!
wow!! you make me want to drink more water and go to sleep earlier. do i have to check out this book, or what? how did i miss this challenge?!?!
Keep up the amazing work! I am right beside you when i can only keep with a diet for like 2 weeks. You actually inspired me to try out this book? I'm trying to lose weight myself but it's hard doing it solo. I enlisted my fiance to monitor what I eat, but since I feel I don't do a good job, I eat all the bad things! I just wanted to stop by and say "FANTASTIC JOB!" :)
Wooo Hoooo!!!!!!! Way to go and you can make it 2 more weeks.
Awesome! Sounds like you're doing great! I need to try drinking more water - I have always had problem skin. Maybe it will make me "glow" like you!!
Keep up the good work!
You can do it!
Chocolate was my vice as well - and the only way to beat it was cold turkey. I haven't had it in seven years, either. Nor do I crave it.
Think of your diet as a total lifestyle change.
If you want a real challenge, go vegan. I guarantee no one orders food the way I do at a restaurant!

Great Job! Hey, does that mean you get to buy a new wardrobe? Imagine how loose your shorts will be in 2 more weeks! :D
Congratulations on all of the changes that you've made! I have a few things that I just can't live without and chocolate is one of them, so I totally understand. I'm sure I'd feel much better with more sleep too. Sometimes it's just so hard to put down those books.
I hope this next week goes well for you!
Great Job! Keep it up. My hubby and I have been on a "diet" for a while now and every time I want to eat candy he says - quick grab something healthy to eat. It works - well - most of the time. :)
Sounds like you are doing great! I made significant 'diet' lifestyle changes some time ago - it does get easier and things just become your new 'habits'.
Good luck! I've heard a lot about this book. Let me know how this goes. I'm horrible at sticking with diets.
Very entertaining post! I feel your pain!!! It's great that your clothes are getting too big!
If there is a followup team after the four weeks is over, I'd be interested in participating. I could use some healthy competition and encouragement to put myself on a better track physically.
I agree with JUNE FREAKING CLEAVER. I WOULD JOIN THAT TEAM TOO!!! SIGN ME UP! :)
Wish I'd have started this with you!!!
I have an award for you HERE
