Tomorrow is the big day—Dewey's 24-Hour Read-A-Thon!
I'm so excited—even though most likely I'll be doing a 10-Hour Read-A-Thon. Still, that is about 9.5 more hours than I usually have to read in a day.
I've been reading a lot of posts about people's plans and tips and suggestions. So I thought I would lay out my own game plan for tomorrow. (By the way, Mr. Jenners thinks this whole thing is silly and ridiculous but he is being supportive anyway. But as a non-reader, I didn't expect him to get it. I just want him to take care of the kid for the day!)
First, reading other posts made me wonder if I had enough books picked out. Some people seem to have stacks that look like the Leaning Tower of Pisa, and I have a crummy 6 books. I console myself that if I should somehow burn through all 6 books in 10 hours, I still have at least 94 books sitting on the downstairs bookshelf I can read. So no problems there.
Second, my primary focus will be on reading. I don't get uninterrupted reading time very often so I'm all about the reading and less about the challenges or blogging or anything else. To that end, my basic plan is to read for two hours and then take a short break (20 to 30 minutes) to update my progress on the blog, check out the mini-challenges (if they are short and sweet) and then jump back into reading. So at most, I'll probably only have 4 to 6 updates tomorrow.
Third, I'm not going to attempt to even write book reviews tomorrow but I will share some "top of mind" thoughts during my updates.
Fourth, I'm planning on going to bed early tonight so I'm rested and refreshed and don't accidentally fall asleep while reading.
Fifth, I'm just going to have fun with it and not stress about how many books I've read or not read, whether I participated in enough "community" events and whether I provided enough updates and so forth.
If you're doing the Read-A-Thon, have fun with it and happy reading! : )

Good luck! I think you have a great game plan, it is pretty well-balanced. I wish I could participate, but I have an event to go to. However, I look forward to living vicariously through you and reading the updates.
Have fun! I got a good night of sleep last night, which is good because tonight I'll probably be too excited to sleep well. Last time I was awake for 2-3 hours in the middle of the night and completely tired when it was time to wake up. Ugh!
I'm giddy for you! It would be a dream come true to have 10 hours to read without interruption! (How pathetic was it of me to actually look forward to 20 hours of flying this past summer to visit Poland? Yeah, sure, Poland is great. But that much time sitting and reading? Woo hoo!
If it makes you feel any better, my husband would be the same way. He just shakes his head at the whole blogging thing.
Good Luck! Happy Reading!!
I would love a few hours of uninterupted reading time. I'll have to bring this up next family meeting!
Good luck with your reading! I am leaving on a business trip today and while I can't participate by joining in the reading fun I am hoping to read all of the postings and sneak a cheerleading comment in now and again!
Good luck! I bet you'll enjoy yourself :) You have a good plan in place. Sounds like a great idea. I'll be curious to also hear how Mr. Jenners entertains Little One during your read-a-thon. I'm sure he has a battle plan. Right?
I love your attitude. To me the most important part of the day is to have fun. A whole ten hours of reading is such a gift. I hope you have a great time.
Good Luck, I will be reading tomorrow too and I have to take care of my little guy (2 year old son) all by myself so I picked out a bunch of kids books from the library to read with him when I cannot read my own books. I think he will get a little more TV time than usual tomorrow, lol. Anyway I am trying to be laid back about it too because in the end it is supposed to be fun.
I hope you have a blast!
Hope you have your snacks ready! I suggest Haggis...!!!
I wish you the best of luck for the readathon!
It's good that you have a plan. I think I'll borrow your every two hours check in on the computer plan. If I look at what everyone is doing every hour I will never get any reading done.
I have 14 books in my pile, but they are mostly short or YA, so I was feeling the same way. It's nice to know that we have so many books on hand to read, right? :)
I'm planning on getting to bed early tonight too, since I'm supposed to be up and reading at 5am.
I'm not able to participate, but it sounds like fun! Can't wait to hear how it went and what you read.
Good luck! And I'd like to remind you that I'm the good Jill...that other one is plain evil.
I like your plan! I'll try to stop in and give you a cheer at some point...good luck and have fun!
Have fun! My daughter and I won't be reading the full 24 hours either. I just can't do it.
And I'm with you on the whole if I finish these I have plenty more where that came from! ;)

Have fun...I'm in too, but will have to break for a few commitments (i think). I'll be stopping by :)
Who plans a ReadaThon on a college football gameday? Because that's just crazy talk.
Me too...3 minutes to go and counting. Have a great time!
